In my hecking (yes HECKING) opinion, I find it scarier and even more horrifying without animations or GIFs. The fact that a single photo/drawing/sketch/crime-suspect-sketch/old art or a short bundle of them doesn't give you a lot to go off of, only that this is what it is or this is as best of an example as anyone can get or even this example is not as grotesque and haunting as the REAL thing itself. When you see a video of anything your mind tells you, "This is what this thing is and it isn't as scary as what it COULD HAVE BEEN" as you know that this is the FINALITY of it and what it can EVER be, even if it wants to be something advanced of itself. If you avert from this route, your mind wonders off, scrambling through the UNKNOWN always questioning if this is only a fragment of what it is or not close to what it REALLY is, your mind will keep you in survival mode, your fight or flight reactionary system making you go INSANE at the thought of ever encountering said thing. The I found this old VHS tape or the Lost Tape, rare anomaly thing is getting stale and it's WAY overdone, it has BEEN overdone ALREADY. I'm not saying it's inherently bad by any or all means, you can make something great by doing so, you just gotta do it the right way, that's all really. Well, there's more to say (like how this video might be annoying later, depending on how it ends up being...) on the matter, haven't heard anybody mention this for a VERY long time!

Yes! Canonically Discord has messed with the tree of harmony! He planted plunder seeds underneath the tree of harmony. While for a while the tree had enough magic to keep the seeds at bay. At some point in the series the tree runs out of magic and the seeds take over both the tree and the everfree forest. In the series the elements are returned to the tree and it dispels the seeds. In my opinion I think the seeds may have had a different effect on the tree idk though.

This makes me think the "I went out of my way for Fluttershy" is talking about doing something to the tree of harmony for her, rather than saving her, which then caused the infection (maybe she wanted harmony between all kind and he tried to do that, and the magic made the tree do that but accidentally to the extreme of assimilating everyone into a hive mind?). It almost seems guilty or in denial, like "I went out of my way for someone I loved, I didn't mean for this to happen. This wasn't supposed to happen. I just loved her." Chilling storytelling
